The three men assigned as commissioners were give the task to select a location for the county seat. After a thorough examination of all the possible locations the men selected the spot west of the Scioto River which is now the City of Circleville.<p>The area they chose was simply a truly unique location. It was built on a prehistoric site, like many</div><div style="margin-top:7px;"><span style="font-weight:bold;">LICKING County</span> - Newark Earthworks, home to the Great Circle Earthworks. The Hopewell people built the earthworks approximately 2000 years ago. Flint Ridge is an ancient Native American flint quarry.
